Dang Zhen was born in Jinan, Shandong. His father, Dang Yanhua, worked in the Match Factory and his mother, Xu Liying, was a primary school teacher;

| 1980-1986 |
He studied at the Second Jingqi Road Primary School in Jinan City. In those years, he learned Chinese painting from his uncle, Mr. Xu Minghuan, making counterdraws of paintings in the Mustard Seed Garden Manual of Painting,and attended evening classes at the Lixia Culture Center, learning sketch skills from Mr. Wang Mingliang and Mr. Gao Yanhua;

| 1986-1989 |
He entered the Yuying Junior High School in Jinan City. During summer and winter vacations, he continued his study of sketch at the culture center and attended the training courses provided by the Shandong University of Arts.When possible, he also tried to get training from the courses held by Jinan Youth Palace;

| 1989-1992 |
He entered the High School attached to Shandong Normal University when he had the opportunity of learning painting from Mr. Kang Zhuang, a famous landscape painter and senior painter at Jinan Institute of Painting. Under Mr.Kang’s devoted instruction, he made numerous counterdraws of famous painters’ landscape paintings, such as Wang Shimin, Wang Jian, Wang Hui,Wang Yuanqi and Shi Tao in Qing dynasty, Four Representative Painters of Yuan Dynasty and Tang Yin in Ming Dynasty, which built good foundation for his future work in painting Chinese landscape paintings. Meanwhile, Mr. Li Zhaocai, a famous portrait painter and the vice chairman of Licheng Literary Federation, helped him in his sketch study, greatly improving his modeling ability. Then, his teacher, Prof.Chen Fengyu of Shandong University of Arts,introduced him to Mr. Jin Jiezhong and Mr. Zhou Xiuqing of Beijing University for Nationalities to learn more sketch skills. As a senior high school student, he took part in the college entrance examination and achieved outstanding success in arts tests – the second best at Minzu University of China and the third best at Chinese Painting Department of China Central Academy of Fine Arts;

He became a student of Chinese Painting Department of China Central Academy of Fine Arts, majoring in landscape painting. At that time, a number of excellent professors, such as Zhang Ping, Li Xingjian, Huang Runsheng,Wen Guozhang, Ma Zhensheng, Yao Mingjing, Bi Jianxun and Liu Ru, were all teaching at the department. He went to Xiang Shan a lot of times to paint the beauty of nature and spent a lot of his energy on basic sketch and line drawing skills;

He transferred to be a portrait painting major and learned from professors like Yao Youduo, Li Shaowen, Han Guozhen, Hua Qimin, Tian Liming, Liu Qinghe, Li Yang and Bi Jianxun. Fan Shen, Yin Chaoyang, Cai Zhisong, Ren Qiga, Li Songsong and Luan Xueyan were his classmates and he made friends with Lei Ziren, Chen Yi, Tong Tianqing and Xu Jianwei. During this time, he painted the portrait painting “Endless Life ? Live” and was selected from all the entitled art works by Central Academy of Fine Arts as the second prize winner;
July，He graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts and became an art teacher for Art Education majors in Normal Department of Shandong University of Arts. His ink and wash portrait painting “Firm Support” won silver prize of the First National Collegiate Art Exhibition;
Oct，His personal art exhibition was held at Shandong University of Arts;
Nov，At the age of 23, he led over 40 students to paint from life in Meng Yin;

He went to Yang Ya Village, Ji Cha Xiang, Mizhi County, Shannxi Province for the first time and got to know the local farmer Yang Dongshan. Since then,he had been to Northern Shaanxi a dozen of times and began his ink and color painting;

He tried to enter the Ninth National Art Exhibition with his ink and water portrait painting “Break through the Wall”, yet failed to pass the first round of selection in the provincial level;

| 2002年 |
He carried over 50 pieces of his works to Beijing to meet the famous art critic and exhibition planner Mr. Guo Xiaochun and won his appreciation. Later, he published his first personal collection of works“Today’s China Art: Dang Zhen”;

May.His ink and color landscape paintings “Echo Series” were exhibited at the First Today’s China Art Exhibition. (The China Millennium Monument,Beijing);
Aug,He took part in the Group Exhibition of the 1970s Ink and Water Painters Inherit and Pioneer (Yanhuang Art Museum, Beijing) that was the very first group exhibition that focused on the pioneer ink and water artists of the 1970s;
Oct. His ink and color landscape paintings were exhibited at the First China-Japan-Korea Ink and Water Paintings Exhibition at Suiboku Museum in Japan;

May,He met the famous collector Mr. Liu Yi who bought two of his ink and color landscape paintings at the price of ￥10,000 in total. It was the first time that Dang Zhen had ever sold his works. Later, Mr. Liu Yi and Dang Zhen became close friends;
Sept.He passed the examination and began to study for his master degree at Tian Liming Studio of Chinese Painting College at China Central Academy of Fine Arts. In the department he rent at Huajiadi Xili, he and his roommate, Mr.Yue Haibo, spent three years together, studying and painting. In this period, his mentor, Prof. Tian Liming, taught him patiently and devotedly. It was during that period that Dang Zhen turned his focus to the study of Ink and Water portrait painting;
Oct,His painting “Metal Time” was chosen by the Tenth National Art Exhibition Committee and won First Prize in Shandong Exhibition Section;

He signed his paintings to Ronghuatang Culture Development Co. LTD and began his three-year cooperation with Ms. Cao Ping;
In Nov,he held the exhibition entitled Exhibition of Dang Zhen’s Works – Wonderful Years at the Eastern Museum of Modern Art in Jinan.Recommended by the famous art critic and exhibition planner Jia Fangzhou,six pieces of his ink and color landscape painting series were chosen to exhibit at Breathe – in Memory of the 200th Anniversary of the Birth of Andersen ? China’s Contemporary Art Exhibition that was held at the China Millennium Monument and joined the itinerant exhibitions that were held in Denmark, Japan and other Southeastern Asian countries.His work “Dream ? Leisure Sound” was chosen to exhibit at the Sixteenth Special Exhibition for International Modeling Artists Association that was organized by the National Artists Association;
Nov,He joined the itinerant exhibition Pioneers of Ink and Water Painting that was organized by Ms. Cao Ping of Ronghuatang;
